How is content restricted to ensure children and young people are unable to access unsuitable content?
Not all 4oD content is suitable for younger audiences. Such content will have guidance notes displayed, providing warnings about the programme’s content. You have two choices on how to protect children and young people from accessing such content.
Instant Access: The first time you select a programme that contains a guidance warning you will be asked to confirm you are over 18 years of age. After you have done this once you will be able to watch other programmes that have guidance warnings without needing to re-confirm your age. The next time you access the service you will again be asked to confirm your age the first time you select a programme that contains a guidance warning.
PIN Access: By selecting this option you can set up a PIN number. Then if you (or someone else on your computer) try to access content that has guidance warnings you will be asked to confirm you are over 18 years of age, and will be required to enter your PIN. You will need to enter the PIN once per session. The next time you access the service and request a programme that contains guidance warnings you will be asked for the PIN. It is possible to disable the PIN at any time. You will need to enter the PIN correctly in order to do this.
